App for insurance companies: all client policies, renewal in two taps and claims with photos.

A client with a car, an apartment and family health cover finds it inconvenient to dig policies out of email and to call when an accident happens. The app keeps all contracts in one place, reminds about renewal, accepts claims with photos and geolocation and shows payout status. We build natively in Swift and Kotlin or with Flutter.

An insurer does not need a mobile app to sell the first policy — the website or a banking app does that. It needs one to keep the client: to see all their contracts, renew them without searching for the website, buy new lines in one tap and, above all, get clear service at the moment of an insured event.

Claims handling is what clients judge an insurer by. A claim from the app with photos of damage, geolocation of the accident, document scans and chat with a claims handler shortens the path from event to payout and takes load off the contact centre. Real-time case status removes the most common question: «what is happening with my payout».

The app receives contracts and payouts from the core system via API, writes sales and renewals to the CRM and takes payment through Kaspi. We build natively in Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android) or with Flutter when time and budget matter more.

What it needs

What goes into an insurer app.

My policies

All active and expired contracts of the client and their family: term, coverage, policy PDF, QR for verification.

Purchase and renewal

MTPL, CASCO and travel quotes from saved data, payment via Kaspi Pay or card, renewal in two taps.

Claim filing

A step-by-step flow: event type, damage photos, geolocation, documents, accident report; the draft is saved offline.

Claim status

Case stages from registration to payout, requests for missing documents, chat with the claims handler.

Push notifications

Policy expiry, payout status, vehicle inspection reminders, seasonal offers — cheaper than SMS and opening the right screen directly.

Sign-in by IIN

Registration by phone number with SMS confirmation, biometric login, consent to personal data processing.

VHI on the phone

Electronic insured card, clinic list, appointments and guarantee letters for corporate clients.

Two languages

Interface, notifications and documents in Russian and Kazakh, switchable without reinstalling.

When you need it

App or client portal on the website.

A client portal on the website (or a PWA from ₸1,200,000) covers the basics: policies, renewal, claim filing. That is enough if clients interact with the insurer once a year.

A native app is justified when there are many clients with several products: VHI used regularly, family policies, CASCO with frequent contacts. Push notifications, the camera for damage photos, offline work at the accident scene and biometrics matter here.

In our experience the decision depends on two numbers: active clients and the share of those with more than one contract. If the base is a few thousand clients with a single MTPL policy, start with a portal on the website.

Security

Data requirements for an insurance app.

  • Personal and medical data are stored on servers in Kazakhstan and only in encrypted form in the app.
  • Sign-in with SMS code and biometrics, auto-logout on inactivity, screenshots blocked on document screens.
  • Access to the core system only through a secure gateway with request logging, no direct database access from the app.
  • Consent to data processing and notifications at registration, with the option to withdraw.
  • Before release — a security review and a check against Apple and Google requirements for financial apps.
Price and timeline

What affects the price of the app.

An iOS and Android app with policies, purchase and renewal, claim filing and push notifications — from ₸2,500,000, from 8 weeks. A PWA or website client portal with the same basic features — from ₸1,200,000. VHI with clinics and guarantee letters, claims handler chat and offline mode increase the scope.

The main price factor is the core system API: if it is ready and documented, the project moves faster; if it needs to be designed together with your IT team, we include that in the plan. Base prices are on the mobile apps page.

Questions

The short version.

How much does an app for an insurance company cost?

From ₸2,500,000 for iOS and Android with core scenarios, from 8 weeks. A website portal or PWA — from ₸1,200,000.

Native or Flutter?

Native Swift and Kotlin when the camera, offline mode and maximum responsiveness matter. Flutter when you need to ship one codebase for both platforms faster and cheaper. We choose after reviewing the scenarios.

Can a claim be filed without internet?

Yes: the claim with photos and geolocation is saved as a draft and sent once there is a connection. On highways this happens often.

How does the app get the client's policies?

Through the insurer's core system API: contracts, statuses and payouts are pulled by IIN and phone number. Without an API only limited functionality is possible.

How long does App Store and Google Play publication take?

Usually from a few days to two weeks: financial apps are reviewed more strictly and need a privacy policy and licence details. We prepare the materials in advance.
