App for accounting firms: documents and filing statuses in the client's phone.

With hundreds of clients, accountants spend hours on «please send the statement» and «what's with my return». A client app collects documents on schedule, shows the status of each return and the tax amount due, and questions go to a chat with your accountant, not to a personal WhatsApp.

Not every accounting firm needs a mobile app. With 20–50 clients, a website, CRM and WhatsApp cover the job completely. An app starts paying off for an outsourcer with hundreds of clients, where collecting source documents, answering routine questions and reminding about tax payments eat a noticeable share of the team's time.

In such an app the client photographs or uploads documents for the right period, sees which returns are filed and which are in progress, gets a push with the tax amount and deadline and pays the monthly fee via Kaspi. All questions go to a chat tied to the client's company — the history is not lost when an accountant changes.

Often the right first step is not a native app but a PWA or a client portal on the website: the same functions without store publication and at a lower cost. Native iOS and Android (Swift and Kotlin) or a cross-platform Flutter app make sense when there are many clients and pushes, camera and biometric login matter.

What it needs

What a client app should include.

Document upload

Camera photos, files and statements by period, with a hint about what is missing for the month; documents land straight in the client card in the CRM.

Filing statuses

A list of forms for the period with «in preparation», «awaiting signature», «filed» statuses and receipts from the taxpayer cabinet.

Taxes and deadlines

Tax and social payment amounts due, deadlines and push reminders a few days ahead, a «paid» mark with receipt upload.

Chat with the accountant

Messages tied to the client's company, not an employee's personal messenger: the history is kept and the manager sees response times.

Signing and approvals

Approving documents and requests in one tap, reminders to sign with the EDS with clear instructions.

Invoices and payment

Invoices for the retainer and extra services, Kaspi Pay payment, payment history and acts of work.

Several companies

One owner has a sole proprietorship and a couple of LLPs — switching between companies in one account, roles for the director and their in-house accountant.

Security

Phone number and OTP login, biometrics, document encryption, access log — the client trusts you with financial data.

App screens

App screens.

When you don't need it

Honestly: who an app won't pay off for.

If you have up to 50–80 clients and one or two accountants, an app will cost more than the time it saves. For such a firm, a website, a CRM with a tax calendar and automatic WhatsApp reminders work — that is ₸350,000–₸1,000,000 instead of ₸2,500,000.

An app or portal is justified when: there are more than 150–200 clients; documents arrive in different messengers to different employees; clients constantly ask about statuses; you want to sell extra services (HR, legal, registration) to your existing base. Even then we start with a process audit and often with a PWA for ₸1,200,000.

Stages

How we build it and how long it takes.

  1. Audit — 1 week: which documents and questions are most frequent, how the CRM and 1C are set up, what data can be shown to the client.
  2. Prototype — 1–2 weeks: screens, roles, upload and approval scenarios, testing with 3–5 real clients.
  3. Development — 6–10 weeks: app, backend, CRM and Kaspi integration, notifications.
  4. Publication — App Store and Google Play, 1–2 weeks for review.
  5. Client onboarding — mailing, instructions, support and fixes based on feedback in the first months.
Price and timeline

What affects the price of the app.

A client app for iOS and Android with documents, filing statuses, chat and Kaspi payment — from ₸2,500,000, from 8 weeks. A PWA or client portal on the website without stores — from ₸1,200,000. Support and development — from ₸60,000 per month.

The price goes up with: data exchange with 1C, several companies and roles per client, electronic document approval, a custom CRM instead of an off-the-shelf one. Base prices are on the mobile apps page.

Questions

The short version.

How much does an app for an accounting firm cost?

A native iOS and Android app — from ₸2,500,000 and from 8 weeks, a PWA or website portal — from ₸1,200,000. The total depends on 1C and CRM integration and the number of roles.

Can filing statuses be pulled automatically?

Statuses and receipts can be passed from the CRM and accounting system where accountants record them. There is no direct automatic link to the taxpayer cabinet for third-party apps, so the status is set by an employee or loaded from 1C.

How are client documents protected?

Encryption in transit and at rest, OTP and biometric login, access separation by company and an action log. We prepare the personal data policy and consents together with you.

Will clients actually use the app?

If it saves them time — yes: one place for documents, deadlines and payment is more convenient than chat threads. Migrating the base matters: a mailing, instructions and a «documents only via the app» rule for new clients.

What's better to start with — a PWA or a native app?

For most outsourcers — a PWA or portal: cheaper and faster, no store review. A native app makes sense when pushes, the camera and regular use by hundreds of clients matter.
