Android apps in Kotlin for an audience where Android is the majority.
Around 70% of smartphones in Kazakhstan run Android, from flagships to budget models and Huawei devices without Google services. We build apps that work on all of them: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, optimised for low-end devices and slow connections.
Who it is for
- Mass-market services: delivery, taxi, education, retail, where the audience is mostly on Android.
- Companies with staff in the field who are issued inexpensive Android devices: couriers, installers, sales reps.
- Products that already have an iOS version and need to cover the second platform.
- Businesses in the regions, where the share of Huawei and budget devices is especially high.
What you get.
Scenarios, screens, states, behaviour when the network drops.
Material 3, adaptation to different screen sizes, dark mode, accessibility.
The modern Google stack: Compose for the interface, coroutines, Room, Hilt.
Push notifications via FCM, Google Pay, geolocation and maps, camera and QR scanning, background sync.
An AppGallery build with HMS Core if you need the audience without Google services.
Node.js and PostgreSQL, or a connection to your API. An admin panel for your team.
Kaspi Pay for goods and services, Google Play Billing for digital subscriptions.
Real devices from different manufacturers and Android versions, weak connections, low memory.
A developer account in your name, the app listing, internal and open testing, publishing.
What matters in Android development for Kazakhstan.
Device spread. From the latest Samsung generations to budget models with 2 GB of memory. The app has to open within a second on any of them. We test on low-end devices, not only on the emulator.
Huawei. A noticeable share of users are on Huawei without Google services: no FCM push notifications and no Google Pay out of the box. If the audience is mass-market, we build with HMS Core and publish to AppGallery.
Connectivity. Mobile internet outside the cities is unstable. Caching, send queues and clear 'no connection' states are part of the design.
Google Play. Requirements for privacy policies, account deletion and data disclosure tighten every year. We publish our own apps regularly and know the current requirements.
From enquiry to result.
- 1Discovery
Scenarios, screens, target devices, estimate. 1–2 weeks.
- 2Design
Figma to Material 3, a navigation prototype.
- 3Development
Compose and back-end in parallel. Builds in Google Play internal testing every week.
- 4Testing
On devices from different manufacturers, on different versions and networks.
- 5Google Play
Listing, testing, publishing. Then updates and ASO.
What affects the price.
An app with 10–15 screens, authentication, push notifications and a back-end is ₸1,500,000–3,000,000 and 6–10 weeks. With offline mode, maps, complex logic and a Huawei build it is ₸3,000,000–6,000,000. If you also need iOS, we price both apps together or suggest Flutter.
The Google Play Console account is a one-off $25, paid by you.
We do this for ourselves too.
1Study for Android is a native Kotlin app with push notifications, Kaspi payments and white label. A personal finance app on Jetpack Compose is in our case studies. Our apps have been on Google Play since 2024 and are updated weekly.
The short version.
How much does an Android app cost?
From ₸1,500,000 for a native app with a back-end. The exact estimate comes after discovery. More on pricing in our article.
Do we need a separate version for Huawei?
If a noticeable share of your audience is on Huawei without Google services, yes: we build with HMS Core. For B2B apps it is usually not required.
Which Android versions do you support?
By default Android 8 and newer, which covers more than 95% of devices in Kazakhstan. Older versions on request.
How quickly does an app get published on Google Play?
The first publication takes from a few days to a week, including account verification. Updates usually go live within hours.
Can we distribute the app to staff without Google Play?
Yes: through closed testing, managed Google Play for organisations or a direct APK. We will advise what suits you.
