A website for building-materials stores: current prices and stock, quantity calculation and delivery.
A building-materials buyer comes to the website with specific questions: is it in stock, how much is it, how much do I need, when will it arrive. We build a catalog website that pulls prices and stock from 1C, calculates materials and delivery, and passes the order to a manager together with the quote.
A building-materials store website is first of all a catalog: hundreds or thousands of items with specs, packaging, and a price per piece, bag, sheet or square meter. If price and stock on the site differ from the warehouse, nothing else matters: the buyer calls, hears a different number and stops trusting the site. So the core of the project is a regular export from 1C or МойСклад.
The second job is helping people calculate. A private customer does not know how many blocks they need for the shell of a house, how much tile adhesive or how much ceiling profile. Material calculators turn how much do I need into a ready cart, and the cart into a quote with delivery.
The third is trade clients. A contractor or procurement buyer needs login by phone number, their own price, repeat orders and an invoice to a legal entity. This can live on the same website without a separate system: retail sees retail prices, a logged-in trade client sees theirs.
What a store website must have.
Prices, stock by warehouse and specs update automatically on a schedule. No manual edits, no mismatch with the till.
Filters by size, grade, brand, packaging and availability; the product page shows price per unit and per pack, weight, certificate, similar and related items.
Blocks and bricks for walls, tile and adhesive, laminate with underlay, drywall with profile, paint and plaster — the result goes straight into the cart.
The cart can be downloaded as a PDF quote, sent to WhatsApp or turned into an invoice request. Useful when the purchase is agreed with a contractor or client.
Pricing by city zone and order weight, choice of vehicle — van, flatbed, crane truck — unloading and carrying upstairs, pickup with warehouse details.
Login by phone, a personal price column, order history, one-click repeat orders, an invoice with company details.
Kaspi Pay for retail orders, Kaspi Red installments for plumbing, tools and finishing, bank transfer by invoice for companies.
Russian and Kazakh versions with hreflang, Product and Offer markup for search, catalog loading under 2 seconds on mobile.
Typical building-materials store website structure.
- Home: categories, seasonal offers, delivery, warehouses, reviews
- Catalog: sections and subsections with filters
- Product pages with price, stock and specs
- Material calculators by type of work
- Cart as a quote and checkout
- Delivery: zones, vehicles, cost, timing
- For trade clients: terms, account, contract request
- Brands and manufacturers
- Warehouses and stores on a map, opening hours
- Articles: how to choose and calculate materials
How many products to put on the site.
You do not have to export the whole assortment on day one. 1C often holds thousands of items with short codes like Bl. aer. 600x300x200 D500, no photos and no specs. A catalog like that sells poorly and ranks poorly.
We usually go like this:
- Pick 10–20 categories that bring most of the revenue: masonry, dry mixes, drywall, roofing, insulation.
- Clean up names and specs, add photos and packaging.
- Set up automatic price and stock exchange, and keep descriptions on the website side so the export does not overwrite them.
- Add the rest of the assortment in batches as content is ready.
This way the site starts working in 4–6 weeks rather than six months.
What stops a website from selling.
- Price on request for half of the products — the buyer goes where the number is visible.
- Stock updated by hand — orders for missing items, cancellations, lost trust.
- No delivery cost — people cannot see the total and call, if they call at all.
- Units do not match: price per piece but sold by the pallet, price per sheet but calculated in square meters.
- Trade clients see retail prices and message the manager on WhatsApp, bypassing the site — they need an account area as much as retail needs a cart.
- The site loads slowly on mobile — and most buyers search for materials on their phone right at the site.
What drives the cost of a store website.
A landing page for one product group — say, aerated blocks or roofing with delivery — ₸250,000–₸400,000, 1–2 weeks. A catalog website with 1C export, filters, calculators, delivery, Kaspi Pay and two languages — ₸600,000–₸1,200,000, 4–8 weeks. With a trade account area, several warehouses and multiple price columns — from ₸1,500,000.
The biggest cost drivers are data quality in the accounting system, the number of calculators and how complex delivery pricing is. Base terms are on the website development page, package comparison on pricing.
The short version.
How much does a website for a building-materials store cost?
A landing page for one category — ₸250,000–₸400,000; a catalog website with 1C, calculators and delivery — ₸600,000–₸1,200,000. A chain website with a trade account area and several warehouses — from ₸1,500,000.
How often will prices and stock update?
Usually every 15–60 minutes on a schedule from 1C or МойСклад. If stock changes very fast, best-selling items can show availability at the moment the product page opens.
Can retail and trade clients see different prices?
Yes. Everyone sees the retail price, while a logged-in trade client sees their own price column from 1C. New trade buyers are offered a contract request form.
Do we need an online store with payment, or is a catalog enough?
For private buyers, Kaspi Pay and Kaspi Red installments make small and mid-size orders much easier. Large orders with delivery are often still agreed with a manager — for them the cart becomes an invoice request.
How long does launch take?
A landing page — 1–2 weeks. A catalog website with 1C — 4–8 weeks, a good part of which goes into cleaning up product names and specs.
