Targeted ads for barbershops: videos of barbers' work for men who live and work nearby.
A man won't cross the city for a haircut, so barbershop ads work within 2–3 km of the location. We launch Instagram and TikTok with videos of your barbers' work, send traffic to the booking system or WhatsApp and count how many of those who booked came back.
Barbershop targeting rests on three things. The first is geography: we show ads within 2–3 km of each location, around nearby office centres and residential complexes, with separate campaigns per branch. The second is video: short «before/after» clips of a fade or beard, the cutting process and the barber himself on camera beat any graphics, especially in Reels and TikTok.
The third is a first-visit offer: a discount on the first haircut, «father and son», a free beard trim with the first booking, a gift card for the holidays. We give the discount only on the first visit so regular clients don't learn to wait for promotions.
We send leads to the booking widget or WhatsApp with a pre-filled message. Then we look not at cost per click but at two numbers: cost per booked client and the share who came a second time — by linking the ad account with the booking system and CRM.
What barbershop targeting management includes.
A 2–3 km radius around each branch, separate sets for office centres and residential areas, excluding overlaps between locations.
Reels and TikTok with the cutting process, «before/after», meet-the-barber clips. We write scripts for your barbers and test 6–10 videos a month.
First haircut at a discount, «father and son», a free beard trim, holiday gift cards — limited to new clients only.
The button leads to the booking widget or WhatsApp with pre-filled text; the lead is tagged with the campaign.
Those who watched a video, visited the profile or the website but didn't book — shown again with reviews and free time.
Lookalikes based on regular clients from the booking system (with consent) after the first 200–300 clients.
Gift cards for 23 February, New Year and birthdays, kids' haircuts before 1 September, haircuts before graduations and summer weddings.
Cost per booking, cost per client who came and share of returning clients by campaign; weekly budget reallocation.
Campaign structure.
- Geo campaign for each location: ages 18–45, 2–3 km radius
- Nearby office centres: weekdays, lunch and evening
- «Before/after» videos and meet-the-barber
- «Father and son» offer and kids' cuts: parents 28–45
- Holiday gift cards: audience of partners and colleagues
- Retargeting: 50%+ video views, profile, website
- Lookalike of regular clients
- TikTok for the 18–28 audience
What barbershop ads can't do.
A barbershop isn't medicine, but there are restrictions. The Kazakh Law on Advertising bans alcohol and tobacco advertising, so the whisky, beer and hookah offered in the waiting area don't go into creatives — otherwise ads get rejected and the account risks Meta restrictions.
Meta also rejects copy that refers to the user's personal characteristics («going bald?», «already over 40?») and creatives focused on flaws in appearance. Grey blending and scalp care are advertised through the result and the process, not the problem. Discounts and prices must be exact — a mismatch with the landing page leads to rejected ads.
What a client from targeting costs.
In our experience and according to market data in Kazakhstan: a first-haircut booking from targeting costs ₸1,500–5,000, a client who actually comes — ₸3,000–8,000 depending on city, district and nearby competition. That's more than one discounted haircut, so ads only pay off through repeat visits.
If 40–60% of clients from ads come back within six weeks, targeting is profitable. If fewer — the problem isn't the ads but service, the barber's work or not booking the next visit. It shows in the report, and we say so directly.
What affects the price of management.
Targeting management for one barbershop on one platform in one city — ₸150,000–250,000 per month; Instagram and TikTok together, several locations or two languages — ₸250,000–400,000. The ad budget is paid separately, at least ₸200,000 per month, in central Almaty districts with dense competition — from ₸250,000. Setup is included in the first month; one-off setup without management — ₸150,000.
Video shoots with barbers are a separate estimate. General terms are on the targeted advertising page.
The short version.
How much does targeting for a barbershop cost?
Management from ₸150,000 per month plus an ad budget from ₸200,000 per month. In central Almaty the budget starts at ₸250,000. Setup is included in the first month.
Which is better for a barbershop: Instagram or TikTok?
Instagram is the main platform: that's where clients view work and book. TikTok gives cheap views among 18–28-year-olds and works well with «before/after» videos; we add it second once there are clips.
Do we need professional videos?
No, live smartphone clips shot in the chair to a script work best. We provide scripts and shooting guidelines, and barbers film during the working day.
When will clients start coming?
First bookings in the first week, a stable cost per client in 3–4 weeks. Real payback is visible in 1.5–2 months, when clients from ads come back.
What do you count as a result?
Clients who booked and came, by campaign, their cost and the share who returned — by linking the ad account and the booking system. Followers and reach are not a result.
