Paid social for pharmacies: promotions, loyalty and service for people living around your branches.

Advertising medicines on social media is almost impossible, but advertising a pharmacy is possible and necessary. We promote the chain, delivery and reservation, offers on dermocosmetics, baby products and vitamins, app installs and the loyalty programme — around branches and with creatives that pass moderation.

Paid social for a pharmacy is built not on medicines but on three things. First, geography: a pharmacy is a neighbourhood shop, most customers live or work nearby, so campaigns target a radius around each branch. Second, the related range with higher margins and no strict restrictions: dermocosmetics, skincare, baby food and hygiene, vitamins, orthopaedics. Third, service: reservation with stock, delivery, 24-hour branches, the loyalty programme and the app.

Medicines in social ads are a high-risk zone: prescription drugs cannot be advertised, OTC drugs require warnings and careful wording, and platforms moderate health topics strictly. We write creatives to these rules so the ad account is not blocked.

We measure results not in reach but in actions: app installs, loyalty card sign-ups, reservations and orders from the website — via the pixel and the CRM.

What it needs

What pharmacy paid social management includes.

Strategy and offers

We choose what to promote: the chain and its service, seasonal collections, offers on related goods, the loyalty programme or the app. Each goal gets its own offer.

Geotargeting by branch

A radius around each pharmacy, separate ad sets for 24-hour branches and delivery areas.

Creatives

Product collections, a pharmacist video about the service, stories with weekly offers, formats in Kazakh and Russian. We test 6–10 variants.

Compliance

Checking wording against the advertising law and Meta and TikTok policies: no prescription drugs, no treatment promises, no pressure on health.

App installs

Install and loyalty sign-up campaigns with in-app tracking and a bonus for the first purchase.

Retargeting

For those who browsed the catalogue or abandoned a cart — a product reminder and reservation at the nearest pharmacy.

Seasonal campaigns

Colds, allergies, summer and back to school — launched in advance with collections and branch stock.

Analytics and reports

Meta Pixel, Conversions API and CRM: cost per reservation, order, install and sign-up; weekly optimisation and a report in money.

Moderation

What is and is not allowed in pharmacy advertising.

The advertising law prohibits advertising prescription drugs to the general public and requires OTC ads to warn about contraindications and the need to read the leaflet or consult a specialist. Meta and TikTok further restrict medicine and health ads: selling prescription drugs is allowed only with certification and not in every country, results cannot be promised, and ads cannot address a specific user's health.

So on social media we promote the pharmacy as a shop and a service, plus products without strict restrictions: cosmetics, hygiene, baby goods. Dietary supplements are advertised with a note that they are not medicines. Platform rules change, so we check wording before every launch.

Economics

How to measure the payback of pharmacy paid social.

A pharmacy has a small average receipt, so paid social payback cannot be measured by a single purchase. The right metric is the cost of acquiring a regular customer: someone who signed up for a loyalty card or installed the app and came back several times. Benchmarks for cost per install and sign-up depend on the city, season and offer, so we give a forecast after the first two or three weeks of tests, not before launch.

We measure campaigns for the related range separately: receipts and margins there are higher, and payback shows faster.

Price and timeline

What affects the management price.

Paid social management for a pharmacy on one platform in one city — ₸150,000–250,000 per month; two platforms, a chain with branches in several districts and cities, or two languages — ₸250,000–400,000. The ad budget is paid separately, minimum ₸200,000 per month, in Almaty with high competition — from ₸250,000–400,000. Setup is included in the first month; one-off setup without management costs ₸150,000.

Video production is quoted separately. General terms are on the paid social page.

Questions

The short version.

How much does paid social for a pharmacy cost?

Management from ₸150,000 per month plus an ad budget from ₸200,000 per month. For a chain in several cities or in two languages management costs ₸250,000–400,000.

Can specific medicines be advertised on Instagram?

Prescription ones — no. OTC ones — with legal and platform restrictions, and such ads are rejected more often. It is usually more effective to promote the pharmacy, its service and related goods.

What should a pharmacy advertise first?

The loyalty programme or app, if there is one — they create regular customers. Then seasonal collections and offers on cosmetics and baby products around branches.

Won't the ad account get blocked?

The risk drops if health-topic rules are followed from day one. We check every creative and landing page, but no one can guarantee a platform's moderation decisions.

What do you count as a result?

Loyalty card sign-ups, app installs, reservations and orders from the website, their cost and revenue — via the pixel, app analytics and CRM. Reach is not a result.
